Mercedes produced only 1,154 units of the 500 SLC between March 1980 and September 1981.
The differences to the 450 SLC were aluminium bonnets, a reinforced four-speed automatic transmission and a new aluminium V8 with 240 hp.
The SLC offered here is a German, accident-free and rust-free second-hand vehicle with a complete owner’s manual, all keys, on-board tools, jack, etc., and has been serviced regularly!
The special feature of this 500 SLC is that the car has been upgraded to approx. 320 hp at the Mercedes branch in Kassel.
The cylinder heads were machined, the intake and exhaust ports were enlarged, camshafts with modified timing were installed, the valves were polished and valve springs with a harder rating were fitted.
The connecting rods were machined, polished and balanced.
The pistons were machined to reduce weight and were also balanced.
The exhaust system was adapted to the increased power.
During this conversion, the standard seats were also replaced with Recaro sports seats and a sports steering wheel was fitted.
The additional cost for these modifications amounted to
approximately € 30,000.
