The design of the Zonda S, the result of Horacio Pagani’s creative genius, is the ultimate expression of aesthetic, aerodynamic and ergonomic research. It embodies a relentless pursuit of perfection and originality.
The ZONDA S – the chosen solutions are perfect in every detail. The car features smooth, clean lines, optimised internal and external air intakes, and the distinctive pointed ‘nose’.
The overall design ensures high aerodynamic efficiency across the entire car and also makes a significant contribution to its aesthetic appeal. The rear lights, the array of air vents and the circular housing of the four exhaust pipes create an original and unique design: a true ‘hallmark’ of the Zonda S.
The 7.3-litre engine with titanium connecting rods is now fitted with a specially designed and entirely hand-crafted air intake system. This new feature envelops the engine, giving the unit an even more impressive overall appearance. The air intake is positioned in the high-pressure area and boosts the efficiency of the 7.3-litre engine to a peak output of 555 hp.
The central carbon chassis is manufactured using techniques familiar from the aerospace industry and incorporates a Cr-Mo composite roll cage. The front subframe has a high load-bearing capacity, thereby offering excellent crash protection. The rear subframe has been designed to support the stresses placed on the mechanical components and the sophisticated aluminium chassis.
Originality and functionality are the defining features of the Zonda S, emphasised by the generous use of leather, carbon fibre, satin-finished aluminium and other premium materials. The finely crafted aluminium pedals offer maximum functionality, unmistakable originality and comfort. Rear visibility has been significantly improved thanks to the flatter bonnet profile.
The quiet-running Mercedes engine, the light-coloured panoramic roof, the excellent sound insulation and the complete absence of vibrations offer incredible comfort. It weighs just 1,350 kg, whilst its torsional and flexural rigidity have reached record-breaking levels. For true motoring enthusiasts, the Zonda S is a responsive car in all conditions, free from roll and pitch effects and with extremely precise steering. The handling is nevertheless safe: not only thanks to the outstanding suspension and the very stable chassis, but also due to the high aerodynamic efficiency of the bodywork, which provides a total downforce of 500 kg at a speed of 300 km/h
